The FreeType Project

FreeType 2 is a software font engine that is designed to be small, efficient, highly customizable and portable while capable of producing high-quality output (glyph images). Note that FreeType 2 is a font service and doesn't provide APIs to perform higher-level features, like text layout or graphics processing (e.g., colored text rendering, "hollowing", etc.). However, it greatly simplifies these tasks by providing a simple, easy to use and uniform interface to access the content of font files. DejaVu fonts

The DejaVu fonts are a font family based on the Bitstream Vera Fonts. Its purpose is to provide a wider range of characters while maintaining the original look and feel.

XeTeX

A typesetting system by Jonathan Kew and SIL International based on a merger of Donald Knuth's TeX system with Unicode and modern font technologies (multiple languages, support for AAT and OpenType advanced font features, trivial font installation).

Fontmatrix

A font manager for Linux. Junicode

Junicode (short for Junius-Unicode) is a Unicode font for medievalists. It is a typeface with 4 fonts, Regular, Bold, Oblique and Bold Oblique. Some fonts have more coverage than others. Birdfont is a free font editor that can create TTF, EOT and SVG fonts.

PascalType

PascalType is a library which is meant for reading (and writing) true type and open font files.

Free UCS Outline Fonts

We aim to provide a set of free outline (i.e. OpenType) fonts covering the ISO 10646/Unicode UCS (Universal Character Set). The set consists of three typefaces: one monospaced and two proportional (one with uniform and one with modulated stroke.
