PIERNIK is an MHD code created at Centre for Astronomy, Nicolaus Copernicus University. Current version uses a simple, conservative numerical scheme, which is known as Relaxing TVD scheme (RTVD). General mathematical context of the relaxation and relaxing systems of hyperbolic conservation laws, and ... [More] related numerical schemes, was presented by Jin & Xin (1995). A particular realization of the RTVD was developed by Trac & Pen (2003) and Pen et al. (2003), who presented the numerical method in a pedagogical way, and provided short, publicly available HD and MHD codes. These codes rely on a dimensionally split, second order algorithm in space and time. The Relaxing TVD scheme is easily extendible to account for additional fluid components: multiple fluids, dust, cosmic rays, self-gravity. [Less]

Ruby Inline is an analog to Perl's Inline::C. Out of the box, it allows you to embed C/++ external module code in your ruby script directly. By writing simple builder classes, you can teach how to cope with new languages (fortran, perl, whatever).

XML stands for eXensible Markup Language. YAXX is an XML extension to YACC, which stands for 'Yet Another Compiler-Compiler'. This extension allows a program in a YACC grammar (LALR) to be automatically converted into an XML document that encodes the syntax tree of the program. Moreover, the ... [More] generated XML document can be validated by a generated DTD (Document Type Description) document. The resulting syntax tree in XML can also be transformed back into the original program through a very simple XSLT stylesheet. The implementation of YAXX is based on an extension to Bison, a public-domain implementation of YACC. The software collects a number of YACC grammars and reference parsers to support the parsing of all major programming languages, including ANSI C, Fortran 77, GNU C++, Java, C#, Ada 95, PHP5, XML, SQL, etc. The original hosting site of the project in SourceForge is still functioning for the release of the tarballs. Developers are encouraged to switch to the new repository hosted here. [Less]

A coupled mesoscale object-oriented model Developed using original Fortran code of NH3D model by : P. Miranda, M. Teixeira, R. Room, et al. (Univ. Reading, Lisbon and Tartu), V. Stepanenko (Moscow State University) ContentsMotivation Overview Equations Active Work References MotivationOverview ... [More] The model includes : The 1-dimensional lake model - Lake [6] The atmosphere shortwave (Clirad-SW) and longwave (Clirad-LW) solar radiation, [7-8] The specific aerosol advection-diffusion - SmolarkiewiczTEScheme - an object-oriented implementation of MPDATA [9] EquationsThe model solves the set of atmosphere hydro-thermodynamics equations in sigma-coordinates defined in [1-5] : Here t — time, x, y — horizontal coordinates, σ = (p - pt) / (psurf - pt) — vertical σ-coordinate, other variables and notations see in Model Definitions. (1) - (3) are the flow equations, (4) — the heat transfer equation, (5) — the continuity equation, (6) - (8) — equations for atmospheric moisture (vapour, rain and cloud drops). Values of Di, where i = u,v,w,Ѳ,… define the turbulence diffusion of the corresponsing variables, Ri, i = u,v,w,Ѳ,… — an additional terms denoting external driving forces. Thermodynamical variables are measured in mesoscale deviations from the background state. Applying the divergence operator to (1) - (3), as shown in [1] leads to : where L and M are the 2nd order linear differential operators, and f = f(x,y,σ). Active WorkReferencesP. M. Miranda.
