Eventhough web application has grown in strength and are sure to replace desktop counterparts, we need to understand that web os kind of solution is still immature and browser is not the conducive platform to develop one such solution. gimbalz aims to be a desktop application which stores its present state in central repository, so its anywhere, anytime accessible solution. Portableapps.com kind of solution is also a viable option. mashups are creating lot of interest but the fact that mashups created by enthusiasts will face service restrictions unless opting for paid version. If we can all work together and build Gimbalz, its gonna provide a radically new genre of application. Lets invade desktops and gadgets to create a true web experience. I hope to see lot of ipod like applications running gimbalz on top of it in future. Think about how wonderful it wud be to connect the gadget to WLAN/LAN to harness better bandwidth and use web apps and with voip 2.0, oppurtunities are boundless.
