A new paradigm, WAB(Web Application Browser) Gimbalz aims to abstract operating system and to provide a better solution for accessing web pages and application. Web browser UI is not meant for ... [More] accessing WebApps. Web browser doesn't provide synchronization among WebApps. Web browsers doesnt provide option for central storage. Web browsers depend heavily on desktop applications. Gimbalz provides the solution to the above problems and much more. Gimbalz is a mix of operating system and browser features, enables WebApps to dock, provides better UI for handling WebApps, synchronization among WebApps through API, central repository storage option, cutomization. Eventhough web application has grown in strength and are sure to replace desktop counterparts, we need to understand that web os kind of solution is still immature and browser is not the conducive platform to develop one such solution. gimbalz aims to be a desktop application which stores its present state in central repository, so its anywhere, anytime accessible solution. You can access your profile to have your workin platform instantly. Portableapps.com kind of solution is also a viable option. mashups are creating lot of interest but the fact that mashups created by enthusiasts will face service restrictions unless opting for paid version. Semantic based scripts in gimbalz will enable better synchronization and since the services are used by single user there wont be service limitations. gimbalz may prove to be the grand mashup enabler. A small summary of the plan, firefox/xulrunner platform can be reused with essential changes as the model to build a new WebApps friendly UI, docking station, extension framework, facilitate semantic scripts, user scripts to categorize apps which are not api compliant, develop an effective WebApp API for better synchronization, control and flexibility. we have a seizable community of firefox developers, extension and theme writers. If we can all work together and build Gimbalz, its gonna provide a radically new genre of application. Lets invade desktops and gadgets to create a true web experience. I hope to see lot of ipod like applications running gimbalz on top of it in future. Think about how wonderful it wud be to connect the gadget to WLAN/LAN to harness better bandwidth and use web apps and with voip 2.0, oppurtunities are boundless. Single sign-on can also become a reality with gimbalz but this is not thought about in the first release but design principles from the initial stage will focus on leveraging this capability in future. release early...innovate constantly... if u have any queries...mail me: navinsylvester@gmail.com More Details can be found in my personal blog: http://navinsylvester.wordpress.com/ [Less]
