Blender is a 3D animation and compositing suite with tools for modeling (advanced subdivision modeling, multiresolution sculpting), uv unwrapping, texturing (procedural node, 2D and 3D painting), animation, rendering, particles and simulation (including fluid dynamics, hard body physics, cloth and ... [More] hair), post-production with node based compositing and non linear editing, integrated game engine (with graphical programming, vehicle and rag doll constraints) and python scripting including an import and export suite. Blender runs on all major operating systems including Windows, OS X, Linux and BSD's. It has sculpting similar to ZBrush©, is a full animation suite similar to Maya© or 3DS Max© ; has compositing comparable to Nuke, camera tracking, object tracking and full video editing [Less]

The Visual Component Framework is a cross platform C++ application framework that offers a modern, clean architecture. It is divided into three major libraries. The FoundationKit provides services such as file access, streams, threads, synchronization primitives, and advanced RTTI features. The ... [More] GraphicsKit includes classes for working with both image and vector graphics, and has built in support for the Anti-Grain Graphics library. The ApplicationKit provides GUI controls, use of the Model-View-Control pattern, property and component editors, undo/redo support, drag-and-drop, clipboard services, application resources, and UI metrics and policy managers. Additional "Kits" adding advanced functionality include an HTML kit, Internet kit, JavaScript kit, Network kit, OpenGL kit, and RegEx kit [Less]

Moonlight|3D is a free modern, flexible and extensible modelling and animation tool developed by a small but dedicated team. The goal is to provide a tool that is capable of turning even the most advanced and challenging projects of artists and technical artists into reality. We understand that ... [More] this project is by its very nature a huge undertaking. We have chosen to make clean design, good usability and solid implementation of features our highest priority goals and we have already successfully, albeit slowly, pursued that road for several years. In order to speed up the progress of our development efforts we open up the project to the general public and we hope to attract the support of many developers and users, bringing the project forward faster. PixelLight is a cross-platform application framework for any kind of 3D applications like games, interactive simulations or visualizations. It's based on a highly flexible scene graph system that allows you to compose and visualize any type of 3D scene for your application. PixelLight is ... [More] written in C++ and has been designed with flexibility and extensibility as one of it's main goals. Therefore, it's not only a 3D engine, but a consistent framework that allows you to combine all the components that you need for your application without having to care about the differences of the actual libraries, APIs or operating systems that you are using. The underlying systems and libraries are abstracted by a powerful reflection and component system. [Less]

jot-lib is a collection of C++ libraries developed at Brown University, Princeton University, and the University of Michigan from the mid-1990's to 2007, and used in support of research in 3D graphics. Various projects were published as papers, including "Dynamic 2D Patterns for Shading 3D ... [More] Scenes" (SIGGRAPH 2007), "Line drawings via abstracted shading" (SIGGRAPH 2007), "Free-form Sketch" (SBIM 2007), "Coherent Stylized Silhouettes" (SIGGRAPH 2003), and "WYSIWYG NPR" (SIGGRAPH 2002). As of late 2007 there are no active jot developers. We are releasing the source code is the hope that parts of it will be useful to 3D graphics developers. Recent focus in jot has been on GLSL shaders (which are easy to port to other systems) and sketch-based 3D modeling. This project was supported in part by the NSF (CCF-0447883). [Less]

Carina Engine is a cross-platform 3d graphics engine. The main objective of this project is to bring the tools (editors, exporters, plug-ins, etc.) and the libraries required for creating interactive 3d applications, such as video games. It encourages experimenting with new techniques and using the ... [More] bleeding edge software and hardware. No constraints are placed during the development other than running on existing operating systems and hardware in real-time (at least 60fps). However, it is still in pre-alpha stage and it is not suitable for use in production environment. [Less]
