The approach, which library uses strictly separates visual aspect which in many cases defined using HTML and CSS and application logic itself responsible for user interaction. Also is strictly separates roles during the development of application: the role of web designer whose main responsibility is to produce HTML and CSS output compatible with XHTML 1.0 and application programmer responsible for code giving the page final look in terms of content and interaction with the user. The implementation uses Springframework's MVC for easier annotation-based configuration with minimal usage of XML configuration files. One of the goals is to provide a state-less approach if possible. For other cases to put state information in context of specific user in her browser.
