I-gnoramusKnow what you don't know!Flashcard and testing software. Visualise your knowledge of thousands of items.I-gnoramus helps you learn lists of "things to remember", such as vocabulary of a foreign language or your friends' birthdays and ... [More] calculate the state of your memory based on an empirical model of the memorisation process. Study the list, get tested on it, and visualise your knowledge. The software calculates how well you know each item at any point in time, based on a model of the memorisation process. It helps you decide what to revise. You can also keep track of your progress and plan your studies. Map your memoryA list is represented in a coloured table that can contains thousands of items. Dark green means you know the item very well, pale green means you used to know it, but it is now time for revision! You can zoom out on the table and have bird eye view of how well you know the whole list. Test yourselfSelect a few items, and start a test. The test window ask you to input your answer for each item. You can input your answer as free text or as multiple choice input or a mixture of both... Each item can have more than one property. For instance, if you want to learn a list of French words, the properties could be the French word, the English translation, the gender, the plural form, a sample sentence and its translation... Learn any kind of listIt is easy to create a new list of items. You can choose what you want to be tested on and how. You can decide to be tested from English to French or from French to English for the same list. You can also create your list in Excel and import it. Or you can browse the database of existing lists online... Watch yourself learnYou can see the graph of your progress from the moment you started to learn a list. You can also see you average learning speed, and your learner profile, that the software determines from your the frequency of your tests and your results. You can also see a projection of your progress in the future, depending on the effort you plan to make. Plan your studiesYou have an exam with a list of items to learn? Set the date of your exam, and the software will create a study plan for you, based on your own learning speed. Your study plan can be exported to your Calendar (Google Calendar, Outlook, hotmail...) and you can choose to receive e-mails that reminds you to stick to your plan. All the lists of your lifeYou can create group of lists like files in a folder. A navigator view lets you navigate through all your lists. Pie charts are displayed for all the lists summarising how well you know it. You can also see pie chart for group of list and the master pie chart that represents the state of your memory of all the lists of your life... Hints:Your want your list to get and stay completely dark green! Let yourself become addicted! The first time you get an item correct it will stay dark green for 3 hours If you get it consistently correct for a week, or a year, it will stay dark green for as long... If you get red or blue after a test, re-test them immediately afterwards, so that they become dark green. If you have a break in your study, go back to the list: your memory builds up even on a break and the memorisation model take this process into account. FeaturesStudy the same list on your desktop on your mobile phone and online Save lists online or locally Share lists with others Browse a database of lists Multi-language support Preference to customise the look and feel Different look and feel for different lists Add plug-ins to allow more type of tests Keep track of the time you spend studying Set the parameters of the memorisation model to match your learning profile. RESTianThe goal of the RESTian project is multi-faceted and influenced by the immortal words of Alan Kay "We aim to make simple things simple and complex things possible." Its first goal will be to create a Framework for building RESTful Web Services ... [More] and its latter goal will be to define a Service Interface Schema for RESTful Web Services. Initial ImplementationThe initial implementation languages are JavaScript for the client and PHP v4 on MySQL for the server. The initial target platform for testing and example services is Drupal v5.x. The initial content types for request and response are "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" and JSON, respectively. REST FrameworkThe initial goal is to create a framework for both clients and servers optimized for rapid and easy development of fully RESTful Web Services that can be reasonably easily evolved to be fully robust without requiring a change to the externally-facing service interface. RESTian will initially aim to streamline creating CRUD-based operations for SQL databases as well as services using purpose-built functions and will hopefully later look to simplify interface with other back-ends(1). REST Service Interface SchemaThe longer term goal will be to identify the schema required to drive RESTful web services that can be represented in practically any language and that can easily be transformed between languages formats. The schema will provide necessary information to (almost) any language capable (2) of serving dynamic content via HTTP and a subset of the schema will provide the necessary information to allow clients to make requests of the same RESTful web services thus satisfying the "hypermedia as the engine of application state" requirement. The initial implementation format for this schema will be JSON and it will be specified by the developer on a path segment heirarchical basis allowing for inheritance of specification and will hopefully later be available in a variety of formats(3). FootnotesOther back-ends could include interfaces to CouchDb, Amazon's SimpleDB and S3, Flickr, YouTube, and more. Server languages to hopefully also include Python, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, VBScript, [http://www.java.com/en/ Java, C#, VB.NET, Cold Fusion, and more. Formats to hopefully include (X)HTML+Microformats, XML, RSS, AtomPub, YAML, and more. [Less]

We choose Django for the following reason: Django is stable (version 1.0) so the api won't change Django is efficient. It was created by World Online wich deal with thousand page views per seconds and a lot of data. Django is used by a big growing community see Django ressources and Django sites for details. Django is written in python. An easy to learn/use programming language.
