Musimage is a distributed system implemented through JADE technology. This distributed system allow end users, by means of a GUI user application, to listen to music they choose from their computers and, at the same time, either the application displays pictures from the Internet or from the ... [More] computer of the user, which are related to the music the application is playing. Client application connects the system through the broker. Broker is the system component which provides the transparent picture-searching service for end users. Client application sends ID3 information of the mp3 files to the broker, and from this music information, containing the song lyric if ID3 file doesn't, broker retrieves a set of pictures associated with each song. Because of this feature, the mp3 files end users play with the client application must have a complete filled in ID3. The same happens if the end users want the system to use the pictures in their computers. End users pictures must be labelled by means of RDF files, and in this project, for the moment, neither have been used nor implemented any tool to label, automatic or manually, the pictures, so this task must be done manually using a Database Management System as MySQL, and not using, for the moment, RDF files. System has a set of songs and pictures classified in some thematics sets. Pictures, as it is said above, are classified manually in pre-defined thematics sets in a Database. In the future, it could be done, for example, with an MPEG-7 tool. Songs are classified by means of lyric classifying using a NaiveBayes classifier tool, WEKA. This tool has the inconvenient that the neuronal net must be trained, and this training must be feed once and again so that the neural net get improved and make more accurate classifications. The song the end user is listening to must be classified on the system. If it isn't, it must be classified using the neuronal network and once classified in one or more thematic group, the process to retrieve the pictures begins. There are two kind of relation in order to retrieve pictures, relation by year or relation by song lyric. Relation by year is when the user only wants pictures of the same year than the song. So the system retrives pictures which year is the same than the song. In relation by song lyric, songs and pictures are classified en several thematic sets, which have relationships between them, so when user is listening to a song, the system will display pictures which belong to sets which are related to the song set. Anyway, end users can decide the percentage of the kind of picture retrieving, by year, by lyric, or an average. [Less]

I have used several tools to do this workflow after taking digital photographs: Connect camera to computer Transfer files to a directory Rotate pictures by EXIF orientation information (saved by the camera) Rename pictures by EXIF creation date. Sort pictures to subfolders by date. Since I ... [More] didn't find a single tool to do all this I naturally decided to make my own tool :-) FlickFleck will enable you to transfer jpg photos from your digicam memory card. These files will be renamed and lossless rotated according to the EXIF information. You can contact developer at: flickfleck(at)gmail.com [Less]

The Big PictureThe Big Picture is an early attempt for a Python library to read and write Exif and IPTC metadata from and to JPEG and TIFF files. It is in a very early stage. This library is fallout from the Happy Camel project, a tool to correlate GPS data with digital photo's. ... [More] StatusCurrently, The Big Picture is in a alpha stage, which basically means that I have succesfully used it on a few example pictures. There is a first alpha release, and the bleeding-edge code is in Subversion. There is support for reading and writing Exif and IPTC metadata in Jpeg and Tiff files, and Jpeg comments. The basic structure is there, but a lot of work is required to make sure all checks are in place for reading, writing and setting tags. Furthermore, I'm still compiling the tag libraries with all their requirements (luckily I can peek at Exiftool's documentation :) If you're interested in using this library, please bear in mind that, currently, it might invalidate your images! The good news is that the files themselves are untouched, and alterations are only written to copies :) UsageUsage and other information may be found in this project's Wiki. [Less]
