Mail Migration

Mail Migration is a suite of classes and scripts to move mail between different storage formats (such as mbox, Maildir, etc). It's written in python, and grew out of a simple wrapper around the standard library's mailbox module.

Xfce Mailwatch Plugin

The Xfce Mailwatch Plugin is a plugin for the Xfce Panel that allows you to monitor several mailboxes for new messages. Various mailbox types are supported, including remote POP3 and IMAP (plaintext and SSL/TLS), as well as local mbox, maildir, and mh-maildir mailboxes. GMail account checking is also supported.

VMime

VMime is a powerful C++ class library for working with MIME messages and Internet messaging services like IMAP, POP or SMTP. With VMime you can parse, generate and modify messages, and also connect to store and transport services to receive or send messages over the Internet. The library offers all the features to build a complete mail client.

KBiff

KBiff is a "biff" or new mail notification utility. It is highly configurable but very easy to use and setup. It tries to combine the best of the features of most of the "other" biff programs out there. KBiff supports all major mailbox formats: mbox (Berkely style), maildir ... [More] , mh, POP3, IMAP4, and NNTP. As of 3.7, it also supports POP3 and IMAP4 with SSL. As of 3.8, it supports CRAM-MD5 and APOP authentication. KBiff is also part of the KDE project.
