Cobbler is a Linux installation server that allows for rapid setup of network installation environments. With a simple series of commands, network installs can be configured for PXE, reinstallations, media-based net-installs, and virtualized installs (supporting Xen, qemu, KVM, and VMware ... [More] Server). Cobbler uses a helper program called 'koan' (which interacts with Cobbler) for reinstallation and virtualization support. Cobbler can also optionally help with managing DHCP, DNS, power, config management, and yum package mirroring infrastructure -- in this regard, it is a more generalized "batteries included" deployment server, rather than just dealing specifically with installations. It has a command line interface, a web interface, and also several API access options. [Less]

An (Arch Linux) pacman-like package manager for some Linux distributions. Actually this Bash script provides a wrapper for system's package manager. Instead of remembering various options/tools on different OSs, you only need a common way to manipulate packages. Not all options of the native ... [More] package manager are ported; the tool only provides a very basic interface to search, install, remove packages, and/or update the system. [Less]

Copyright 2007 GlobalTEK This project intends do build a clone of the automatix tool that exists for Ubuntu. The idea is great and there's nothing like it for Fedora. Like the Fedora Team, we also prefer the open formats, but we realize that a tool like this can help to bring users to the ... [More] Linux side. The GlobalTek is starting this project in order to achieve a similar tool. Right now there's only a bash script, but you already can: Disable SELINUX (Desktops, specially laptops, don't really need this), Enable AUTO FSCK on startup (Check your disks after a cold reboot), Reconfigure host services (Turn off some less used services that are on by default), Enable logs compression, Enable automatic updates (No user intervention needed in the updates), Enable updatedb database (Useful for finding files), Update the host, Configure additional repos (Only repos known to be safe to use with Fedora) Install additional software (The good stuff!!! Video, Audio, DVD, etc) And the not so Free software!!! (Free as in Gratis!) Flash Player, Acrobat Reader, Skype, Opera, Win32 Video/Audio Codecs. MS TrueType Fonts Google Earth Google Desktop Google Picasa The next goal is to create a GTK interface to the functionality that already exists and expand it. If you want to help, just let me know. The Debian Installer Loader runs on most releases of Windows. It will allow you to run the netboot (or netinst) image of Debian to install Linux side by side Windows. No CD, USB or Floppies are needed. All that is required is an internet connection. The Loader will download the current Linux ... [More] kernel, initrd (ramdisk image). It also installs grub into the Windows boot loader (ntldr or bootmgr; chainloaded). Automatic 32bit (x86) and 64 bit detection decide which kernel and initrd is best to use. After you install and reboot, a new menu option "Debian Installer" appears, from which you can launch D-I. The current copies of D-I offer partition resizing, so your ext2/3, FAT32, or NTFS partition can be resized to make room for Debian. After it's done, you'll have a "side by side" installation of Debian with Windows. Listaller provides an user-friendly way to install 3rd-party applications on Linux. It features a software setup package format (IPK-packages), which works on all Linux distributions and provides tools to make your application-binaries work on every distro. The package format is based on ... [More] standards like DOAP. The project has merged with Autopackage some time ago. One of Listaller's strengths is it's close integration with AppStream and PackageKit. This means that you will be able to manage Listaller-installed applications with your favourite package-manager, like GNOME-PackageKit, Apper or even the Ubuntu Software Center. [Less]
