The year is 2012 and America is in a state of emergency. The government told us that by occupying the Middle East we would be taking the fight to our enemies and protecting our national interests. Eight years later all we heard were stories of victory; how all the money and lives were not lost in ... [More] vain. We thought that superior firepower could defeat an ideology, but instead we became responsible for the worsened reality of an already irritated and economically fragile region. The ideology we were fighting grew stronger. We became aware of this on January 1st, 2012. On this cool morning an army of over a million men counter-attacked American forces throughout the region. Caught completely off guard, American forces were completely overrun from the region. Many soldiers were lost. American citizens were evacuated. Embassies were burnt down. They told us to never come back. To the American people their message was clear, and we wanted nothing more than to bring our wounded home. However, instead of retiring our soldiers to their loved ones, our government decided to counter-attack. The government used the most recent deaths as an unsuccessful rally cry for new recruits. A draft was deemed necessary for national security. With an economic situation looking bleaker each day, the people felt they had enough problems without another stupid war. Things began to crumble as we headed full-on into depression. Cars were no longer economic because of unaffordable gas prices, and they were commonly abandoned or stripped for scrap metal. Huge junkyards peered into the sky. The younger generation looked at all this, and wondered why our once-hopeful economic future now looked so bleak. Once told that hard work can achieve anything, this new highly competitive job market terrified everyone. Unemployment became a feared reality, and security got tighter. The Military Industrial Complex’s relative wealth was at an all-time high. The same regulations that allowed the government to discretely deal with terrorists also allowed them to deal with internal threats. At both the national and local level, money and resources were being spent towards imprisoning our own people. People began getting in trouble for what were once-minor offenses. Draft-dodgers were imprisoned without a trial. Non-violent protests turned into riots. Rioters were imprisoned with no due process or simply shot dead in the streets. Prisons were overcrowded, with jail cells holding up to ten people at some prisons. Those who may have once been disciplined kids with futures were tagged next-generation’s criminals. This is where the story begins. After months of bloody rioting, the President declared martial law, which stripped individuals of their inalienable rights. The younger generation started getting targeted as troublemakers, and began to overcrowd our prisons. Anarchy broke out in many places and the crime rate went up. This became the dawn of the America we had once known. The future became uncertain, and many feared apocalypse. An economically Darwinist society arose where only money guaranteed survival. The Land of the Gun singleplayer campaign is the story of a war hero's rise to power. The game's multiplayer on the other hand will contain both teamplay and deathmatch game modes, with the primary theme being the collecting of money. As players collect money over time, they can spend it on new weapons and upgrades. [Less]
