Thingpad is an online notepad, just like Google Notebook but trying to make information more accessible. It sucks right now, will get better latter (hopefully). Find it at: http://arcthingpad.appspot.com/

You use Firefox, you use Open Office, maybe you use Eclipse ... your preference is for open source applications but you haven't made the jump to Linux because Windows works well enough for what you want. And yet you still find yourself using Notepad. Sure it's simple, quick and works fine ... [More] for what it's meant for. But, it's a closed source Microsoft product and it kind of irks you to use a Microsoft product that you can't really find a fault with. Open Notepad cures your dilema. It looks and feels like Notepad. It works exactly the same. BUT ... when you click Help -> About Notepad it doesn't display a Microsoft logo. Beautiful isn't it? This project delivers you the choice of a non-Microsoft Notepad. This project is about choice, a choice to replace a program that works perfectly. Unlike Microsoft Office or Internet Explorer there isn't much (anything?) wrong with Notepad, but why should we be locked into the Microsoft solution? Not only will this project deliver a program to perform all your note taking needs in plain text, but it will be pressuring the European Union to stop Microsoft from unfairly using its monopoly to force all users to use Microsoft Notepad. Microsoft has been shown that the courts will not accept it using its monopoly to force users into using Internet Explorer or Media Player and it's about time that the same is done for Notepad. This is not a single project it is a collection of projects. One of those projects is JavaNotePad. Java Note Pad Java NotePad is a very simple easy to use notepad. It is like the windows note pad. But, unlike the windows note pad, it has a few extra features. Those extra features can be ... [More] available in other tools in the internet. But I just wanted to include those features with the note pad, because all those are related to text files. The extra features are : You can read selected number of lines from a very large file instead of reading the complete file. For example, say you have a Log file of 1GB or more. That file the normal notepad cannot open. Using this feature you can be able to read the last say 100 lines. You can export the text from the note pad to : HTML, RTF and PDF You can convert the different files, like, XML to csv and Excel OR csv and excel to xml One more feature is to split text files. This feature is introduced mainly to split very large XML files. But other text files can also be splitted. And also the splitted parts can be combined togather to get the complete single file. All other features are like the Notepad only. Use it and send me feedback : sabuj.das@gmail.com Get it from here : HERE [Less]

Not really.. but there are many useful features, including: ability to hyperlink between notes, similar to a wiki or html page tabbed view -- maintain multiple open notes tree view -- organize your notes in a filesystem view (on the left side) create and reorganize notes and ... [More] folders within the application quickly create a new note by snipping (cutting) a section of another note quickly archive sections of a note (snip to an archive note), when you don't want to throw the text out entirely customizable colors and fonts built-in ability to zip and backup your complete set of notes all files are stored as plain text -- interchangable with other notepads/editors free!
