roguelikes in the way, that the game is not played turn-based but in realtime-action via an intuitive and modern interface (drag&drop, action bars, etc).
It is based on conventional tile graphics and tries to maintain an overall retro/80ies look-and-feel, but at the same time features neat particle- and sound-effects using the Slick framework, which is based on LWJGL and makes use of OpenGL/OpenAL.
The name "Albareth" losely references to the classic C64 action-rpg "Times of Lore".
