Blender is a 3D animation and compositing suite with tools for modeling (advanced subdivision modeling, multiresolution sculpting), uv unwrapping, texturing (procedural node, 2D and 3D painting), animation, rendering, particles and simulation (including fluid dynamics, hard body physics, cloth and ... [More] hair), post-production with node based compositing and non linear editing, integrated game engine (with graphical programming, vehicle and rag doll constraints) and python scripting including an import and export suite. Blender runs on all major operating systems including Windows, OS X, Linux and BSD's. It has sculpting similar to ZBrush©, is a full animation suite similar to Maya© or 3DS Max© ; has compositing comparable to Nuke, camera tracking, object tracking and full video editing [Less]

Moonlight|3D is a free modern, flexible and extensible modelling and animation tool developed by a small but dedicated team. The goal is to provide a tool that is capable of turning even the most advanced and challenging projects of artists and technical artists into reality. We understand that ... [More] this project is by its very nature a huge undertaking. We have chosen to make clean design, good usability and solid implementation of features our highest priority goals and we have already successfully, albeit slowly, pursued that road for several years. In order to speed up the progress of our development efforts we open up the project to the general public and we hope to attract the support of many developers and users, bringing the project forward faster. Designed with theatrical lighting design in mind, Cameo provides lighting controls common to Cue based light boards. Cameo is designed to provide young designers and smaller venues an alternative to expensive lighting consoles without sacrificing artistic freedom. Cameo requires the ENTTEC Open ... Python library for controlling intelligent stage lighting fixtures using the DMX-512 protocol. This project aims to include: Hardware controller interfaces Lighting fixture definitions Stage setup configuration Scene management An intuitive user interface Right now, I'm just in the ... [More] planning stage, but would like to have some kind of 0.1 release soon. By soon, I mean, whenever I find the time to keep messing with this stuff. Right now, it's been pushed a little too far to the side... [Less]

The Hudson Engine is a next generation entirely shader driven 3D engine wrote from the ground up in C++. Some of it's core are ports of the popular PSP engine Raptor(See Qj.Net for alphas) wrote by the authors of Hudson. But this version is a revolution, not an evolution. Offering a slew of ... [More] next gen effects, ranging from per pixel parallax mapped lighting, to full screen variable bloom. It also includes a very fast software boned animation system. The engine completely replaces the Mesh classes of XNA, and instead offers a far more flexible entity/surface relationship. Implented using a scene-graph. Other features include, terrain system with multiple levels of detail, detail texturing, multiple height layers. A water system with reflections and refraction for that next gen feel. also includes a wind system to ditact the flow direction of the water. Lastly , but not leastly, we have VirtualCode - A full on, next generation script language wrote entirely in C# so runnable on both 360 and windows. It is an entirely OOP language with syntax very similar(but not exact) to C#. You can call C# wrote functions from within scripts, and run scripts in threads. Also included is a full gui-driven IDE for the script language, with features such as real-time error reporting(Like VC IDE but 100% accurate. i.e if a variable does not exist, unlike vc, this ide WILL list the error before you hit return. Syntax highlighting/tabbed interface/debugger etc. Everything you need to design and prototype your scripts. You can load scripts from file or memory, or string. The language includes all standard controls like for/if/while/switch etc. Planned for the next release is the ability to control HudsonLib from within the scripts. (Saying that, it would very easy for you to add that functionality yourself, without having to recompile the engine. An example will be done shortly to demonstrate this) [Less]

Current rasterization based renderers utilize one of two main techniques for lighting, forward rendering and deferred rendering. However, both of these techniques have disadvantages. Forward rendering does not scale well with complex lighting scenes and standard deferred rendering has high memory ... [More] usage and trouble with transparency and MSAA. This research project aims to explore a middle ground between these two lighting techniques with the aim of keeping the key advantages of both. Screen shot from the demo [Less]
