The Simple Localization System PHP library allows you to add user-contributed localization to your website or web application. It features an easy to use interface for "in situ" edits of UI strings (a WYSIWYG approach to translating web content or a user interface). For a live demo, go ... Click on an object, and you can then translate it to your language. SLS consists of PHP functions that read/write to text files on your local disk (a type of locale based server side include). We use Javascript to implement highlighting and popup editing. The code for all of these components is available here, and can be modified as needed for your system. We are planning to add support for PO files in the near future, to allow this tool to be integrated with PO based tools such as Pootle. SLS, as its name suggests, is simple. We have not tried to build a complex system. It is a simple utility that you can add to your website or web app. We will be publishing some more detailed tutorials, usage guidelines and other materials in late December.
