GNU findutils includes find, xargs, locate and updatedb. These tools proivide ways to search for files on your system by specifying what kind of file you're looking for.
mlocate is a new locate implementation. The ‘m’ stands for “merging”: updatedb reuses the existing database to avoid rereading most of the file system, which makes updatedb faster and does not trash the system caches as much. The locate(1) utility is intended to be completely compatible
localdb is a collection of Java classes that locates the full file path of the folder containing the database files so that the it can be dynamically added into the JDBC URL thus allowing further portability of your database with as little hassle and no installation.
