LXDE is a free desktop environment for Unix and other POSIX compliant platforms, such as Linux or BSD. The name LXDE stands for "Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment". LXDE is a project aimed to provide a new desktop environment which is lightweight and fast. It's not designed to be ... [More] powerful and bloated, but to be usable and slim enough, and keep the resource usage low. Different from other desktop environments, we don't tightly integrate every component. Instead, we tried to make all components independent, and each of them can be used independently with few dependencies. LXDE uses Openbox as its default Window Manager and aims at offering a lightweight and fast desktop based on mutually independents components. [Less]

In the past, those frameworks has been applied through the environment variables, such as XMODIFIERS and GTK_IM_MODULE. and can't be influenced immediately and can't be without restarting the desktop because of its nature - it's being inherited from the parent process unless it's being brought up with the obvious thing from the terminal say. Also, there are no such framework to bring up the necessary process at the runtime - of course anyone could runs it manually though, it's totally out of focus on this project. Since Absolute lacks a repository for the next few months, any extra packages I create will end up here. I plan on creating updated packages for some programs (like PCManFM). Mostly, I plan to compile binary packages for LXDE for use in Absolute. I also hope to provide the Midori web browser ... [More] , dtrx, crikey, pho, conky, and applets for lxpanel. Projects are released under their respective licenses. Any original content by me will be released under the GPLv3 license. All but 2 or 3 packages were compiled on July 17, 2008. They will be uploaded tomorrow. [Less]
