MPlayer

MPlayer is a movie player which runs on many systems and plays most known video and audio formats. Another great feature of MPlayer is the wide range of supported output drivers. It has also an onscreen display (OSD) for status information, nice big antialiased shaded subtitles and visual feedback for keyboard controls.

GStreamer is a development framework for creating applications like media players, video editors, streaming media broadcasters and so on. It aims to support every format imaginable.

libogg

Ogg is a multimedia container format, and the native file and stream format for the Xiph.org multimedia codecs. As with all Xiph.org technology is it an open format free for anyone to use. libogg is the reference library for demultiplexing and mutiplexing files in the ogg multimedia format.
