This project aims to provide an implementation of an MHEG-5 engine. The original implementation was from libmythfreemheg from the excellent Myth TV. It was ported to C# to be used in MediaPortal, but can be used in any other similar software.

OpenMheg is a MHEG-5 engine for Windows. It allows you to view over-the-air interactive services, such as BBCi and Teletext in the UK and other regions that use MHEG-5. Forward all queries to this Google group ReleasesRelease 0.1.2 is available Requires .Net Framework 3.5 See what has ... [More] changed Download it here Read the ReadMe This is early pre-alpha code, so be prepared for issues. Please report any problems. SummaryA framework for MHEG-5 that includes a working engine compliant to UK 1.06, an XML parser and ASN1 parser, and a GDI renderer. It is written in C# and runs on .NET 3.5 or above. A BDA TV card that works with DC-DVB is needed to access the broadcast data stream. It can also be used to run saved static dumps of MHEG-5 applications. It's licensed as a GPL 3 codebase. Features:ISO MHEG-5 compatibility. XMHEG Decoder. ASN1 Decoder GDI+ Renderer. Hardware accelerated video overlay mixing and re-sizing support. Control DC-DVB as the DSM-CC. 90% + compatibility of UK profile 1.06. Anti-aliased fonts. Partially WorkingLive view ( limited to where DC-DVB works) Planned Future Developments:Persistable Cache. Installer. WPF Renderer. Cleanup of code base to make faster and more stable. Full UK profile 1.06 compatibility. Media Center plugin. Mono (Linux) compatibility. Native DSM-CC CommunityIt is hoped that this project will try to gather some interest in getting a fully working MHEG intrepreter in the near future. MHEG-5 is that standard used in both Freeview and Freesat in the UK, and a working intreperter would be beneficial for a wide audience. To that end, any developers would be welcome to join the effort. Also a community of users to test and file bugs would accelerate development. Please email me at dmmalam gmail.com if you’re interested. Enjoy! [Less]

Converts between text notation and ASN.1 for UK Profile MHEG-5. Other profiles may be added. As encoder, it takes a source file containing an Application or Scene described in the MHEG-5 textual notation and outputs an ASN.1 DER file ready for transmission. It's targeted at the Freeview ... [More] derived profiles but could be modified for other profiles without too much work. As decoder, it reproduces the textual notation and can add a few helpful comments too. HistoryThe nice people at Samsung Electronics created it as a simple in-house tool for testing their Digital TV products. When the DTG test group started creating the conformance tests for the UK profile of MHEG-5, Samsung supplied their compiler for use by all members. Having little time to devote to maintenance, they released the source under the GPL license. SpongeLava took on the maintenance for a while and provided upgrades for freesat and the NZ profile (testing really). The source has always been available, but working with tar files from the SpongeLava site is a pain, so we've moved the hosting to google code. The DownloadsThe latest versions are available via subversion or tar files from the download tab. You can also get the original SERI (Samsung) provided version. The binaries package includes the mhegasn.exe convertor used in testing: it converts DER to XER and is needed for the python test scripts in the source package. I can't distribute the source for copyright reasons. mhegasn.exe is a cygwin executable so the cygwin1.dll is included, mhegenc.exe is mingw so it should run stand-alone. A summary of changes since the original Samsung version: Use a dynamic buffer to remove 16k restriction on source. Extensions for freesat Use --no-cygwin Expanded support for classes Tests for NZ profile [Less]
