Gwibber

Gwibber is an open source microblogging client for GNOME developed with Python and GTK. It supports Twitter, Jaiku, Identi.ca, Facebook, and Digg.

StatusNet

StatusNet (formerly Laconica) is a microblogging service. Users post short (140 character) notices which are broadcast to their friends and fans using the Web, RSS, or instant messages. It is the software that runs Identi.ca.

Twitter4R

A pure and simple Ruby client wrapper for the Twitter REST API. To install Ruby Gem, at the command line type: sudo gem install twitter4r

microblog-purple
