ntop [Network Top]: ntop is a network probe that shows network usage in a way similar to what top does for processes. In interactive mode, it displays the network status on the user's terminal. ... [More] In Web mode, it acts as a Web server, creating an HTML dump of the network status. Performance Co-Pilot (PCP) provides a framework and services to support system-level performance monitoring and performance management. The services offered by PCP are especially attractive for ... [More] those tackling harder system-level performance problems. For example this may involve a transient performance degradation, or correlating end-user quality of service with platform activity, or diagnosing some complex interaction between resource demands on a single system, or management of performance on large systems with lots of "moving parts". The distributed PCP architecture makes it especially useful for those seeking centralized monitoring of distributed processing (e.g. in a cluster or webserver farm environment), especially where a large number of hosts are involved. The EDDIE Tool is a monitoring agent. It runs standalone on a system and performs checks and other actions as defined by an extensible configuration. The EDDIE Tool can perform all basic system ... [More] monitoring checks, such as: filesystem; processes; system load; and network configuration. It can also perform such network monitoring tasks as: ping checks; HTTP checks; POP3 tests; SNMP queries; RADIUS authentication tests; and customized TCP port checks. Finally, a few checks lend themselves to security monitoring: watching files for changes; and scanning logfiles. Monitoring rules are just like Python expressions and can be as simple or as complex as needed. Advanced alert control functionality such as exponential back-off and dependencies are also standard. App::FQStat is the internal module that runs the fqstat.pl tool. fqstat is an interactive, console based front-end for Sun's Grid Engine (http://gridengine.sunsource.net/). This has grown out of an ... [More] in-house tool I wrote just for convenience, but I believe it may be useful to others who loathe the ugly and slow Java GUI qmon that comes with the grid engine software and who find the huge list of jobs coming out of qstat to be painful. Usage of the tool is quite simple. Run it, it'll show all current jobs on the cluster. Hit "h" to get online-help or F10 to enter the menu. It can show, select, highlight, sort, kill, and modify jobs in your queue. fqstat was tested against a couple of versions of the grid engine software starting somewhere around 6.0. [Less]
