The goal behind periscope is that it will only return only correct subtitles so that you ... [More] can simply relax and enjoy your video without having to double-check that the subtitles match your video before watching it. This is done by using as much info as available from your file and on the websites. Some websites allow you to use hash of the files, the size/length of the video or the exact file name. As a python module, periscope should be easily integrated in many projects that allow plugins to be written in python. The fact that the plugin is shared between all the applications means that separate application and their plugin (file browser, video player, media center application, ...) don't have to maintain the code to search, parse and download subtitles and the user preference about languages. VisualSubSync

VisualSubSync is a subtitle program using audio waveform representation as it's cornerstone. SRT and SSA/ASS subtitle formats are supported. CONVERSUB

CONVERSUB converts subtitle files in either the SRT or SUB format to the opposite format. The result of this conversion depends on the number of frames per second that the user indicates on the command line.

This software is able to search for a movie title and returns a list of subtitle download locations in different languages. Various features are added such as restricting the search query with a preferred language and a list of distributors.

gnapi

Gnapi is application designed for automatically downloading and matching subtitles for movies. It supports Napiprojekt.pl and OpenSubtitles databases. Program can be extended by plugins.

Subtitles like any translation, can always be improved, and as a such it's common to find multiple versions of a subtitle, without knowing exactly which one is the latest version, or which one is better or for what release. jsubtitler

Small utility to download movie subtitles using API from OpenSubtitles.org. Main goals are to be as simple as possible and multiplatform. Currently it's in pre-alpha phase. It's possible to anonymously download subtitles, but it's still kinda buggy for everyday use.
