The aim of the project is to provide a tool to check that the references listed in the reference list of a scientific manuscript are also cited in the text and vice-versa. The program creates a list of references from the text by identifying portions of the text that look like citations, and ... [More] parsing them. The format checking is implemented with regular expression. The program only analyses plain text, so Word files are converted into plain text using COM in Windows, and catdoc in Linux. How to install?Linux: Checkout citecheck.py and citecheckGui.py. GUI version: You need Python 2.5+. You need PyQt4 installed. You need catdoc installed. Run python citecheckGui.pyw. Command-line version: You need Python 2.5+. You need catdoc installed. Run python citecheck.py filename. Windows (not available yet): GUI version: Download the binary package, decompress it in a folder, and run citecheckGui.exe. Alternatively you can checkout citecheck.py and citecheckGui.py and install: Python 2.5+. pywin32. PyQt4. You need MS Word installed to process .doc files. (Only tested with Office 2003). How to use the GUI version?Run CiteCheck by clicking either citecheckGui.exe or citecheckGui.pyw. Drag the text file or the Word file you want to analyse, and drop it in the left panel of the application. A list of found references is displayed in the right panel.
