IntroductionWANsim allows you to simulate (more accurately, emulate) a WAN connection. In particular, it allows a user to change the emulated WAN speed, latency, variation, packet loss, packet duplication and packet corruption aspects. WANsim is configured as a network bridge that is established at ... [More] boot time. WANsim utilises the Linux Kernel NETEM functionality to accomplish its goals. Although relatively well documented, this functionality is not the easiest to use. WANsim wraps this into a simple to use script that can be accessed by simply logging into the Linux host using the wansim user account (see ScreenShot). WANsim was originally written for my own needs. It is provided to you in the hope that it might be useful. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any suggestions, problems or patches. Neptune Network EmulatorThe aim of this project is the development of a flexible, multi-user, virtualization-enabled network emulator, using a cluster of general purpose (x86) machines: network nodes are virtual machines running on top of cluster physical machines. All nodes are GNU/Linux ones, and ... [More] link emulation is implemented by netem. The emulator interface is web-based and uses the AJAX pattern. An example of net topology definition through the Neptune's Web Interface is here: More examples are in ScreenShots. Actual features: Users management Experimemts life cycle management (definition, allocation, destruction) Hypervisors and Virtual machines management Two ways to define topologies: xml file or visual editor Automatic topology validation and completion processes What I need to use Neptune?Neptune is a cluster-based emulator, but you don't need a cluster to use it, because it's flexible!! All you need is a PC with the Xen Hypervisor, libvirt and an application server like tomcat installed and ready to use. If you have a cluster, instead, you can use the whole cluster or a part of it, simply installing on a node the above configuration and on the other nodes the Xen Hypervisor and libvirt.
