Nevada, Reno (UNR). The application shall provide users with an intuitive, mobile interface to aid navigation of both the campus as well as various directories of UNR. iPack will essentially act as a small-scale version of the iPhone’s native operating system (iPhone OS X), incorporating several UNR-specific sub-applications into a central interface. Currently, the proposed sub-applications of iPack include a campus map, a faculty directory, and an index of available courses; all of these should be interconnected. Significant focus will be placed upon integration of several of the iPhone’s unique hardware capabilities into the application. The most notable example of such focus would be the utilization of the device’s positioning capabilities in the map application for real-time navigation. As a final product, iPack should be a useful, intuitive, mobile UNR-navigation system available to iPhone owners through iTunes’ App Store.
The University of Nevada, Reno is host to a large, dynamic campus, undergoing perpetual growth. Such growth brings new buildings, faculty, students and courses. The UNR iPhone application, iPack, will aid navigation in this changing environment. iPack will be a mobile, interconnected, UNR-specific software suite bundled within a single application. At the very least, iPack will consist of a GPS-enabled, dynamic campus map, an index of available courses and a faculty directory. [Less]
