jfonia

jFonia is a framework/API for music, focusing on symbolical (discrete) data such as notes, clefs, measures etc. It is a low level framework, aiming to facilitate the development of high level music software, such as score players, viewers, editors, analysis and composition tools etc. The ... [More] framework is still under development. GOALThe goal is to offer: a special way to represent time-based information, using specialized iterators. Among other things, these iterators help bridge the gap between different music models, between score and performance (midi) etc. basic classes for common concepts such as pitch, rhythm, chord symbols etc. a basic set of algorithms which can be used to manipulate music (e.g. transpose, play, analyse, pitch spell,...). Algorithms operate on iterators, so as to decouple them from the actual music model used (similar to C++ STL) a basic model for common music, based on list representations. abc4j

The abc4j java library provides API to handle abc musical notation using java (>=jdk 1.2 but core classes only rely on 1.1.8). It provides a parser to parse tunes written in abc notation, and other classes in order to support midi playback, music score display etc etc. It only supports abc v1.6 ... [More] (for now... :). Calliope Music Notation Editor

Calliope is a NeXTStep music score notation editor being ported to MacOS X and GnuStep. It uses Cocoa and the open source MusicKit APIs. Calliope offers good support for typesetting modern and early musical scores, including lyrics and lute tablature.
