The goal of the Syllable project is to create a family of easy-to-use free software operating systems. It is the continuation of the BeOS-like AtheOS. Syllable Desktop has its own C kernel with ... [More] symmetric multiprocessing, multithreaded pre-emptive multitasking, high POSIX compliancy, 64-bit journaled filesystem (AFS) with metadata, an integrated native GUI architecture with an object-oriented C++ API, SDL, singular native toolkit and multi-user desktop environment. The system seeks to be an integrated, lightweight, easy-to-program, powerful, high-performance graphical desktop environment which avoids legacy OS paradigms that frustrate developers and have hindered the computing masses' adoption of a free-software desktop. Syllable Server is a matching small and efficient Linux server. [Less]

This project aims to create a tool that allows any OS that will run WINE to harness the features provided by the Microsoft SAPI text to speech (TTS) system. This project uses a client server ... [More] architecture to allow for single server multiple clients . This can be setup in any number of configurations and combinations to provide high quality speech to users. The features of the speech system are accessible through a command line interface. This project aims to bring a wider variety of speech engines and more languages than are currently available in Linux to date. A side project has been started to help improve the Rockbox utility speech generation by allowing the use of SAPI speech engines in Windows, Mac OS and Linux extending the features that are currently available. Project OverviewIn the Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory here at the University of Florida, we are developing programs and systems to better understand and study human movement. One of these projects ... [More] is a novel, robotically actuated X-ray imaging platform whose purpose will be to photograph (with X-rays) peoples joints or implants during normal movement. Graphical illustration of the system in operation Producing a robust robotic system, which integrates robots, sensors, computer platforms, and programming languages, is a daunting task. Therefore this project focuses on the development and testing of the control software for this system. Named DRICS, Dynamic Radiographic Imaging Control Software, this effort will build an open source control framework. Highlights include Distributed real-time control framework based on the Orca/Ice libraries Off and on-line measurement planning tools and algorithms Project roadmapGetting startedFirst check out a copy of the code from our subversion repository. This can be done in both Windows and Linux. However, 99% of our code base is meant to be compiled in Linux - in other words, use Windows at your own risk. In Linux, to checkout the code type: svn checkout https://drics.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ drics --username your_user_name You will then be prompted for your password. Once you have a copy of the code, hack away! When you feel you have added something useful to the code, commit your changes to share with everyone else: svn commit -m "Some message for the log books stating what you did" If you are writing a component for the first time, check out the Empty Component in the component directory.
