LaTeX

LaTeX is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting. It is most often used for medium-to-large technical or scientific documents but it can be used for almost any form of publishing.

Scribus

Scribus is a desktop page layout program with the aim of producing commercial grade output in PDF and Postscript.

teTeX

teTeX is a complete TeX distribution for UNIX compatible systems, maintained by me, Thomas Esser. It is based on the web2c distribution which is currently maintained by Olaf Weber. teTeX has been officially declared unmaintained by it's current maintainer, and users are suggested to change to TeX Live instead.

GNU LilyPond Music Typesetter

LilyPond is a music typesetter. It produces beautiful sheet music using a description file as input. LilyPond is part of the GNU Project.

Wikipublisher

The Wikipublisher project develops an open source Typesetting Engine that takes Web page content and turns it into a form suitable for printing. The current version adds this capability to the PmWiki engine; if there is enough demand, the project may add support for other Web content management ... [More] systems. LuaTeX

LuaTeX is an extended version of pdfTeX using Lua as an embedded scripting language. The LuaTeX projects main objective is to provide an open and configurable variant of TeX while at the same time offering downward compatibility.
