JForum

JForum is a complete, powerful, database-independent and multi-threaded forum software. It provides support for many languages and customizable templates per user.

phpBB-Evolution

The phpbb-evolution project is an open source (GPL) content management system (CMS) based around the phpBB3 forum system. The cms includes features such as customizable blocks, modules, multi language support and themes. This is more than a phpbb3 portal. It is still being developed, so at this time there isn't a stable release available.

Sphinx for phpBB
