IntroductionEver needed to share a folder over the network but could not get it to work? I had the same problem once too often. So I built PortApache. It allows you to simply make any folder on your ... [More] disk available to any other computer in their web browser. Execute the program and it will prompt you for a port and a folder. That's it. Your folder and all sub folders beneath it are available to all other computers in their web browser. SecurityApache is probably the most tested web server on the planet. All the binaries used in PortApache are directly taken from the version produced by the Apache Software Foundation. PortApache simply provides the wrapper to configure and run the original binaries in a portable manner. SizePlus, it's tiny - less than 1 MB - so it can easily be placed and run directly from your USB key. UsageTo run it simply unzip the zip file to any location you like. Then run apache-start script to run the server and apache-stop to stop it when you are done. If you do not wish to be prompted then you can ener parameters on the command line as shown here: apache-start 80 c:\temp admin portapache - Start the httpd on port 8080 and serve c:\temp with username admin and password portapache The current version runs on Win 2K, XP, Vista, 2K3, etc. The Win 9x series is unsupported. Please contact me if you need a version that supports Linux/Unix Caution: Please make sure you understand the security implications of doing this. Do not expose sensitive and private files under PortApache. There are no warranties implied or otherwise on this software. Note: This software is not affiliated in any way with the Apache Software Foundation. [Less]

Movable Python is a portable distribution of Python for Windows capable of running of a USB stick. It includes both the pre-built distributions of Python, plus the scripts required to build the ... [More] distributions. Distributions are built with py2exe. As the distributions are isolated from any installed version of Python, Movable Python can be used for testing code with different versions of Python. The Movable Python interpreter behaves as much as possible like the standard Python interpreter. The standard distribution includes the full standard library and the PythonWin and IDLE IDEs - it makes a portable development environment. A modified version of Movable Python could be used to create standalone applications without needing to bundle (and re-bundle) with py2exe. [Less]

USB Disk EjectorA program that allows you to quickly remove USB devices in Windows. It was originally designed to remove only USB pen drives but will now eject any USB or firewire device that windows ... [More] sees as a disk. It can also eject flash cards from card readers. It can be run as a non-visual command line program or a normal gui program and is very useful if you have a USB flash/pen drive, especially if you use a menu such as PStart or the Portable Apps launcher. The command line options are very flexible, they can be used to: Eject the drive that the program is running from. Eject a drive by specifying a drive letter. Eject a drive by specifying a drive name. Eject a drive by specifying a partial drive name. When run as a ‘normal’ GUI program the tools enables USB devices to be quickly ejected through a mouse click or keyboard press. It’s especially useful when dealing with multiple USB devices and for Vista users who don’t want the ‘now safe to remove this device’ dialog box to appear. The program was designed for and has been tested on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista. It should work on all versions of Windows from 2000 onwards though.
