TextRoom is a simple full-screen text editor heavily inspired by similar text editors such as Q10 and JDarkRoom. Initially it was a personal offshoot of the Phrasis project. It's based on Qt 4.3.2 TextRoom is GPL licensed and cross-platform. Currently it runs on Linux and Windows only. But we're working on a MacOSX package.

Phrasis is a is a stripped down text editor. We want to remove any feature that might hinder the productivity of a professional (or serious amateur) writer and add any feature that would increase the efficiency (of must our users). Therefore, we've created an interface with only the bare ... [More] essentials, no menus, no formating features and no nonsense. Please comment and help improve the product. Phrasis only edits text files, so other formats must be converted to text or they show up as gobbledygook. We support Unicode, so non-English and multilingual documents are acceptable. Our first public release should occur in January 2007. In the mean time, feel free to download the development version from svn and compile it yourself. A public wiki is now available. Note: Qt 4.2.2+ is required due to several bugs with older versions of qt NEWS:Grammar checking now works!! We now have an IRC channel on freenode, #phrasis [Less]

Introduction Write-Attack is a timed writing program. You set a target word count and a time limit, and the countdown starts. If you don't meet your targets within the time limit, all your text is deleted. It's a writing motivational aid, a cure for writer's block and a creativity ... [More] pressure cooker. Or maybe it turns the familiar welcome mat of the blank page into a paralyzing nightmare. It depends on who you are. (If you're one of the productive "i never have writer's block" in the latter category, or think this is a ridiculously stupid idea, just close your browser, make some tea, and go back to writing your novel in productive peaceful stillness. This program isn't for you. I hate you.) How it Works It's like a mini-word processor. No distracting bells and whistles like "choosing fonts" or spell-check. You choose a target word count and a time limit. Then you hit "Start" (or just start writing), and the clock starts ticking. Once the clock has started, copy/paste, drag-and-drop, and--most unnervingly--saving your work are all disabled. Locked out. All you can do is write. There's a live word count, and an encouraging mascot who will cheer you on, or express consternation if you're falling behind your goal. Right now these guys are borrowed from 'Tetris Attack' for the beta, but I'm hoping to have new ones soon. As soon as you reach your target word count, saving (or copying and pasting into the safe bosum of your Word or Google Docs novel) are all re-enabled, and you can breathe a sigh of relief and bask in your creative laurels. Everyone loves laurel-basking. However, if you lose focus, obsess over every word, revise, delete (the mascots really hate it when you delete stuff, btw), or otherwise fail to reach your goal... the text ignites and everything you've written is gone in the pixelicous flames. There's no undo, and no secret way of getting it back. It's gone, back to the blank page, try again. So basically, don't let that happen. It's bad. The goal of this program is not to make you write super fast, but instead to simply make you (or more accurately, to make me) write. Choose time limits that are generous, that you can finish comfortably (if you don't wander off to check the fridge). There's a helpful "Nanowrimo" button that sets you up for a day's worth of Nano-writing, too. Once you hit your quota, just copy/paste what you've written into your nano-novel and you'll be finished in no time. Well, in a month, actually. BETA WARNING BETA WARNING: This is BETA quality software (and barely that). Which means that it hasn't been tested very thorougly. So there is a distinct possibility that it will crash and lose what you've typed, or fail to let you save even when you hit your word count or any number of other bad things. Please let me know via email or submit a ticket on the issues tab if you encounter any bugs and I'll do my best to fix them. [Less]

[More] (voir http://rzpages.ovh.org/projets/mdown/index.php5). [Less]

Frustrated by the document editors of his day, kidko set out to write something that does exactly what others don't: automatically manage chapters and sections with ease, track characters, motivation, and plot. All within the realm of Open Source Software. Current Milestone: 0.3 ProBookAn ... [More] application tailored especially for book and story writers, ProBook is still in early (pre-alpha) development stages. Plans are in place to include a variety of functions, including strict control over the fonts used for chapter headings, the title page, and the body text itself. Control of a similar amount is available over the page size, ranging from US Letter, to half-letter (resulting in two pages per sheet of paper), and Size A paperback sheets. In addition to the PBOOK file format itself, which will hold all of your book's information, non-ProBook users can read your book when you export it to the common PDF format, or as a web-capable HTML document. And there are the specialized character management fields to track their motivation as both goals and likes/dislikes, and with notes for anything ProBook forgot. Milestones0.0 Start Project 0.1 Dummy Interface 0.2 Chapter Editing/Retainment 0.2.5 Character Editing/Retainment 0.3 Saving 0.5 HTML export 0.7 Direct Printing 1.0 PDF export Note that only the Linux binaries are updated regularly (since kidko works under Xubuntu). Windows binaries can be expected when major features are implemented. [Less]
