GNU Screen

Screen is a text console window manager that generates virtual terminals (PTYs) for interactive processes. A scrollback history buffer allows copy&paste, a detach feature saves your session for later reconnect.

tmux

tmux is a "terminal multiplexer", it enables a number of terminals (or windows) to be accessed and controlled from a single terminal. tmux is intended to be a simple, modern, BSD-licensed alternative to programs such as GNU screen.

byobu

Byobu is a Japanese term for decorative, multi-panel screens that serve as folding room dividers. M2Curses

Modula-2 bindings for the curses screen management library. Work in progress. BSD style license.

shelr

Console screencasting tool Shelr.tv allows you to record something interesting from your terminal and share it to your followers. It is almost the same thing as YouTube but for plain text shellcasts. You can copy and paste everything you see.

chimp-interfaces

Chimp is a plugin for Vim that provides a generic method of sending commands from Vim to a screen session with a REPL running in it. This project provides interfaces to various REPL's/shells.
