This was primarily developed to support the implementation of pure DHTML/Javascript clients that could be connected to the miniTruco telnet server (http://code.google.com/p/minitruco). However this package can be easily extended and/or adapted to work with any other telnet server. Please let me know if this was somehow useful to you.
