Brainfreeze is a simple, yet very fun to play sokoban game. Its being built with an eye to be easy to port, so it'll run on Windows, Mac, Linux and more. All you need is a graphics card that can render textured quads. So anything after 1999 will work :) For those unfamiliar with sokoban ... [More] , you're presented with a 2d tileboard. The object is simple: Moving your avatar around, you must attempt to push all of the crates onto the goals. Simple, you say? Ah, but you can only PUSH and not pull... so if you run into an obstacle, game over! Its a simple game to learn, yet deeply complex and will engage you for hours. Have some fun! :) [Less]

The main goal of this project is to develop software which can successfully solve a particular set of Sokoban puzzles. These puzzles will vary in difficulty and will each propose significant challenges as regards Sokoban solving techniques. Another requirement of this project is to compare the ... [More] programs performance against that of the human player. Data records from human players who have attempted these puzzles in the past have been provided, and contain information on the sequence of moves, the amount of moves taken, and the time in which they were taken etc. Finally, the program must also use these records to derive Sokoban heuristics, so that they can be applied when automatically solving a puzzle. Therefore, this project requires both software development and experimental and statistical analysis. [Less]

JSokoban originally started as a project for College which was eventually improved at University. It's admittedly a very simple game, but it would be interesting to see how it can develop now that I have more time. My next goal is to get a map editor working.
