Western ABC notation covers music (and midi tone generation) based upon chromatic approximate scales; Eastern polyphonic music is based upon true tones and natural intervals (for instance, Indian ... To produce true tones on a synthesizer, appropriate control codes need to be sent to it to program it. This project aims at enabling that very process, starting from simple steps like - allowing for return scale renditions that may vary - (scales going up the octave may NOT be the same as those coming down in a raga). A few definitions are in order: 1. Raga - a scale that has two parts, one going up the octave and the other returning back to the starting point 2. Taal - meter for rendition of a raga - unlike most of western music - which is based on marching music, 4 to 16 beats to a measure, with exceptions most notably in jazz - a variety of meters are available to render the raga in: 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 19 1/2 and so on 3. gamaka/chapka - visiting notes using slides, bends, hammer ons, trills, et c.
