Linux Kernel

Bash

Bash is an sh-compatible command language interpreter that executes commands read from the standard input or from a file. Bash also incorporates useful features from the Korn and C shells (ksh and csh). Bash is ultimately intended to be a conformant implementation of the IEEE POSIX Shell and Tools specification (IEEE Working Group 1003.2).

GIMP

GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It has many capabilities. It is designed to be augmented with plug-ins and extensions to do just about anything. Vim

Vim is an advanced text editor that seeks to provide the power of the de-facto Unix editor 'Vi', with a more complete feature set. It's useful whether you're already using vi or using a different editor.

GNU grep

Grep searches one or more input files for lines containing a match to a specified pattern. By default, grep prints the matching lines.

X.Org

X.Org provides an open source implementation of the network-transparent X Window System, as well as working on the standard itself. The development work is being done as part of the freedesktop.org community, sponsored by the X.Org Foundation.

GNOME

Debian GNU/Linux
