# Each gallon of gasoline you burn creates 20 pounds of CO2.The average vehicle emits 6.7 tons of CO2 each year. # The IPCC predicts that during the next century, the average rate of warming will be greater than anything seen in the last 10,000 years. # Global sea levels could rise by at least ... [More] fifteen and perhaps as much as ninety-five centimeters. # National Geographic reports that the endangered species list is larger than ever because they don't have natural habitats anymore. All of the above are consequences of human beings depleting the Earth's resources - construction, felling of trees and rain forests, unchecked use of things which take millions of years for the earth to recycle. We hope to raise awareness in this matter by putting together this project which provides information about the world, statistics, alternative suggestions to commonly used things, etc. [Less]

Google ThinkMapThinking gets you the green.Project paleGoldenRod is a collaborative and interactive location-based internet games platform. It's built purely on JavaScript and Ajax, taking full advantage of the Google Web Toolkit. It utilizes the Google Maps API and Google Charts API to immerse ... [More] players in the real-time multiplayer gaming environment. Basically, it's our vision of Google Games. Use of Contest ThemeWe make use of the contest theme in not one, not two, but multiple innovative ways. As a reminder, the contest theme is Think Green. Our three implemented games are think-ing games, and they are visualized on the Think-Map. We recycle Google search technologies to produce creative new games. Our team worked with a green lava lamp, and codenamed one of our games greenLavaLamp. GREEN stands for G-oogle R-eal-time E-ntertainment E-voking N-etwork. Completed Killer FeaturesThinkMap Lightbox login. Full-screen map (Note: As far as I could tell, this is impossible with the pre-made API in Google Web Toolkit, so I created a new implementation of GMap2Widget). Standard Google Maps controls, such as panning, zooming, and different map types. Tracking of who created which game. Virtually instant (realtime) updating of new game info. Google Charts API (there is some strangeness with the API). Google Gadgets directly on the map, multiplayer games a future feature. Use of Google TechnologiesGoogle Web Toolkit Google Charts API Google Maps API Google Image Search Google Search Google Gadgets Future: OpenSocial (designed with this kind of interactivity in mind) Future: Google AdSense (ad revenue donated to "green" causes) Thanks for reading about our project, and I wish you a lovely day. Green Great Olymic by Dafei and Jammyo China has overtaken the US as the largest emitter of GHGs. In light of the upcoming Beijing Olympics, what has China done to realize Green Olymic? [More] intuition is to encourage people to take bus, subway and bike by compare the time used by bus+subway+bike, and the time used by car. Although the transfer among the public vehcle is a small trouble, giving the increasing time on traffic jam and parking, we deem it is better than use car.
