Giocondo allow you to easily create GUI applications that runs both on the web and standalone with the same code. You only need to know PHP. No knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript and AJAX is required, except for defining the static content of pages or changing the default style. Giocondo follows ... [More] the KISS principle and uses an object based (not full object oriented) API for constructing GUI by composition (a la Tcl). Ancillary libraries provided are: a database library which doesn't use any abstractions (e.g. relational to object mappings). You just code queries in an almost-standard SQL which is then parsed and converted to the specific implementation dialect automagically. At last the full power and simplicity of SQL are in your hands regardless of the RDBMS you have. a privilege system to check and grant privileges in your application without having to code a certain test twice. It allow fine grane control. [Less]

UpdateI'm breaking the CSS engine off of this beast and organizing it as a separate project. This will allow me to focus on documentation, examples, and tests for the most viable part of this silly idea and actually, just maybe, get something useful out there. As for the rest of it, let's ... [More] just say it was never meant to be. The CSS engine has seen a lot of progress, including full shorthand property support, HSL/RGB color handling, selector improvements, @import loading, and bug fixes. I'll get something put up on a separate project page within the next couple of weeks. If anybody has use for any of this stuff, please contact me and let me know (john at newgonzo dot com). Just telling me a little about your project can be a huge motivator. Cannonball is an implementation of the DOM Level 3, HTML and CSS3 core specifications written in ActionScript 3.0. Cannonball as a whole is not functional, but some of its components are usable as separate libraries: CSS: The CSS engine in com.newgonzo.cannonball.css.* Scripting: JavaScript/ActionScript/ECMAScript scripting support with as3scriptinglib DOM: The DOM implementation in com.newgonzo.cannonball.dom.* (needs work) The CSS package is the most complete and provides: support for many of the CSS3 selectors, based on The Simple API for CSS an API for exposing any object as a CSS-selectable node style cascading with respect to document origin, selector specificity, and declaration priority (!imporant) You can explore the CSS selector engine here. The JavaScript engine is provided by an API for using the ECMAScript compiler from the Tamarin project in Flash. It's hosted at as3scriptinglib. A proof-of-concept for using !HTMLTidy in Flash (via Alchemy) has been posted at the as3htmltidylib project page. It's fat and slow. This project is under active (slow) development. Interested in contributing? Contact me at john at newgonzo dot com. This project is incomplete and has very little documentation. Proceed at your own risk. [Less]

PyDingo will be a cross-platform File Manager based on PyQt4. The key feature will be pluggable widgets that will handle various URLs (text editor for text files, file browser for folders, media player for multimedia files and so on) shown in tabs (or opening files in external applications assigned ... [More] to such files). Tabs will be detachable as QDock external windows or embedded on the PyDingo window sides (thus allowing 2 panel or more file management). The purpose of creating such application is to: 1. Learn more about PyQt4 :) 2. Create some solutions for common GUI application creation problems (there are web frameworks, but no GUI frameworks except Dabo or Tryton) 2a. Create articles about used Python modules, implemented features 3. Show that Python and PyQt4 can be used to create nice applications. Screenshots+ Linux + Mac OS X + Windows XP + Scintilla based text editor + Native look in GNOME Contact, comments, help, other riklaunim@gmail.com (mail/GTalk/jabber) Code checkoutThe code is in the SVN repository: svn checkout http://pydingo.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ pydingoTo run the application use: python run.pyYou will need PyQt4, qscintilla-python, pyxdg, and optionally other modules in the future. Should run on Windows/Mac OS X/Linux/Unix where PyQt4 is available. pyxdg as a mime backed will be changed in near future (other utilities needed for Windows, and OS X). Alpha 0.39 releaseThis sub-release contains some fixes, code improvements over 0.3, but still lacks some new functionality planned for 0.4 release (settings, docking, and detaching). Source code: http://pydingo.googlecode.com/files/pydingo-0.39.zip Alpha 0.3 releaseIf you want to test whats going on in the project use the SVN code. 0.3 is getting old, however you can test windows binary - if it works and has all the DLL (report bugs). 0.3 release offers: * Basic File browsing * Text files editor * Meta/Mime data preview for binary files with ability to run in suggested app (Linux/Unix currently) * Basic web browser (WebKit)Dependencies: PyQt4 (Qt 4.4 or newer), qscintilla-python, pyxdg (Linux/Unix, highly recommended), hachoir (optional, recommended), gnome-vfs-python (optional, GNOME/Other application suggesting for files) and / or newer pygobject with GIO bindings (optional, GNOME/Other application suggesting for files) OS: Linux, Windows tested. Should work on OS X and other Unix systems. Foxkit is a Web Browser written with Qt4, WebKit and (optionally) KDELibs4 at its core. The initial objective is to implement the basic features found in all the major browsers (tabs, history, cookies, adblock, download manager, etc).
